This sliding lid keepsake box is made from figured walnut and soft curly maple. Box sides and top are 5/8" thick which is thicker than the standard 1/2" sides but also not too heavy or bulky to use. The bottom is also 3/8" thick which is thicker than the standard 1/4" or even sometimes 1/8" thick bottoms. This allows our boxes to hold more weight without breaking and in general use will allow the keepsake box to last longer.
